About Iron House

Thirty years
inside the work.

Eddie and Ankica ran a construction company together for over 25 years and won multiple business awards for how they operated it. Iron House exists to put those systems into other builders’ businesses without them spending 25 years learning it the expensive way.

Eddie Cooney

He has priced the job and chased the variation.

Eddie has run a construction company, delivered major projects, and worked through the real problems — operational, contractual, staffing, cash flow. That is the credibility. It is not theory from a business coach who has never priced a job.

30+ years in construction, New Zealand and overseas
Licensed Building Practitioner (Site 2)
NZQA Level 6 Construction Management
NZQA Site Foreman and Supervisor
BAA in Adjudication and Dispute Resolution under the Construction Contracts Act 2002
Member, Certified Builders Association
First runner-up, 2012 World Capability Awards
Multiple business awards for operating practices
Ankica Cooney

She knows the tradie office from the inside.

Ankica came from a corporate background into running a construction company: contract administration, Construction Contracts Act compliance, quantity surveying, tenders, back-costing, budgets, Xero. Most bookkeepers do not.

Between them, Iron House covers the whole thing — the numbers, the systems and the site.

What we stand for

Advice that does not turn into action is worthless.

  • Turnover is vanity. Profit on the job is what counts.
  • Builders are experienced operators — we do not talk down to them.
  • Tell the owner the truth about a commercial problem, even when it is uncomfortable.
  • Preparation and detail compound. Small things done properly, repeatedly.
  • Values drive character, character drives process, process drives results.
  • A strong builder can still have weak numbers. That shows up fast in a downturn.
