Can you actually
back-cost a job?

Most builders want to know what a finished job made. Far fewer can find out — and usually not because the job went badly. It is because the information was never captured in a shape that can answer the question.

These ten questions follow the money the whole way through a job: what you priced it off, how it was set up when you won it, what happened on site, where the costs landed, and whether anybody closed the loop at the end. A break at any one point stops the whole chain.

Answer them the way it actually works on a busy week, not the way it works when somebody is watching.
